Our first earthquake! I was rocking Kailey and reading her a story when suddenly there came a loud sound of rumbling outside. I figured it was a really noisy jet flying overheard, when suddenly I realized our whole house was shaking. It was only a small one, but scary nonetheless! I am not looking forward to any larger ones!

Finally Asleep!
This is how Kailey fell asleep on Sunday. She is our little reader and loves to read before bed. We usually give her some books, set her timer and let her read until it goes off, then its bedtime. She didn't even make it until the timer went off before she was asleep on Sunday. When we went in as soon as the timer went off, this is what we found.

Car Wash Day
The other day, I decided to wash the car. I dressed Kailey up in her swimming suit, gave her a sponge, and let her have at it. She had a blast, squealing and shrieking when the water hit her as I was rinsing the car.

Disneyland
Kailey and I took a day off last week and went to Disneyland. We had a blast, so prepare yourselves for picture overload!
Waiting to catch the train-one of Kailey's favorite rides. We have to do this before we do anything else whenever we go.
Sitting amidst Pooh's honeypots
Waiting in the hour long line for Finding Nemo-yes we finally went on it!
All aboard and ready...maybe!
And...she likes it!

Playing in the water-we had an outfit change right in the middle because she decided after we got her dressed again that she didn't want to leave yet.

Kailey and her pioneer friends
This is from our ward pioneer party we had yesterday. I have to give the credit for this adorable picture to Brooke.

Kailey Kisses
So, last night Kailey and I were snuggled on the couch watching Aladdin. During the movie, Aladdin and Jasmine kiss of course-a Disney kiss. For those of you who don't know what that is, the characters kiss by fitting their lips together and just leaving them there-no lip movement of any sort takes place. After the movie was over, I brought Kailey upstairs and got her ready for bed. When I tucked her in, I asked for a goodnight kiss and of course she obliged. This time though, she pressed her lips up to mine and just sat there forever, while I tried in vain to get her to give me a little smacking sound. I finally asked her why she wouldn't kiss me and she said "Jasmine and Aladdin kiss like this."
She woke up this morning still kissing the "Disney kiss". It is pretty unsatisfying when you just want a sweet little Kailey kiss! I think we'll be in this stage for awhile, so don't be surprised if you ask her for a kiss and you get an "Ariel kiss".

Aww-so cute
So recently Kailey has become little miss independent. She thinks she has to do everything herself and won't let us help her. For example, the other day she figured out that she could open the car door by herself and so we aren't allowed to help her with that anymore. Unfortunately, it is still difficult for her and she struggles and pulls for quite awhile before succeeding. The worst is in parking lots as people walk by and give me evil glares for forcing my child to struggle to open her door as I watch on. Despite it being a pain sometimes, it really is adorable that she is little miss independent now. The other night, it was her turn to do our family prayers and of course we weren't allowed to help her. She started off the prayer with blessing most of the things and people she knows, then started rambling forever in a language that neither Chad nor I could understand. This went on for at least a few minutes before she ended her prayer. It was so cute-wish I had a tape recorder!
The last announcement I have is.....drumroll please....
We have a fully potty trained little girl now!!!!! Woo hoo! She suddenly decided that she didn't want to wear pull ups anymore this week and only wanted to wear big girl panties. We haven't had an accident all week even though we've been traipsing everywhere! We're so proud of her.

The 4th of July

Our Independence Day was full of fun, but very busy. We decided to go into LA for the day and find some fun there. We ended up making the decision to go check out Griffith Park. They have pony rides and a carousel there. Since the zoo is right next to it, we went there as well. As usual, Kailey had a blast at the zoo seeing all the animals.

Griffith Park was a lot of fun. We couldn't find the pony rides (the park is huge!) but we did manage to find the carousel. She loved it of course-our daredevil child that will do anything-and we had to pry her off her horse at the end. She also loved just running around in the grass and playing.

After our drive home and a long nap for Kailey, we were ready to go again. We went to a park and then we were off to watch the airplanes fly overheard. Despite the plethora of activities we had done during the day, I believe this may have been Kailey's favorite thing. She loved watching the planes fly overhead and would squeal and laugh every time one took off. We stayed there much longer than we had planned.

Unfortunately after such a long day, Kailey was too tired to stay up for fireworks. Chad and I did hear quite a few and I did manage to glimpse a few illegal ones shooting up in the air from our deck. Hopefully next year, we'll finally be able to catch the big ones, or at the very least light a few of our own!
