Here are a few cute pictures from recent park outings. We realized that we took virtually no pictures in January and the majority of February, so we've been really trying to remedy that lately.

The Aquarium
A couple weekends ago, we headed out for the free aquarium in San Pedro. Kailey had been begging us to go see the fish for awhile and you just can't beat free, so we decided to check this one out. It is actually a pretty neat place with quite a bit of things to see. There are even some tidal pools a short walk away. Much easier to get to than the last tidal pools we ventured out to. Here are some of the highlights of the day.
Kailey just couldn't hold still at first as she ran from exhibit to exhibit

Her favorite exhibit by far. I know, its gross so forgive me for posting it, but she makes me look at it every time I turn on the computer and so now it will just be easier for me to access it! If you can't tell, its an anglerfish or a "Nemo fish" as Kailey calls it.

At the end, Kailey was very tired, and very grumpy and it was showing in the pictures. The funny thing was that she would run up to the structures and pose and tell me to take pictures, but she would make the grumpiest faces imaginable for the camera rather than smiling. We were laughing so hard at her faces and it only made her grumpier. Here are a couple of the highlights.

We even got the hands on the hips for this one, emphasizing her mood.
We decided to venture to the tidal pools, but unfortunately there were a couple large groups of teenagers there and they had scared off all the creatures except for a few sea urchins.

Yet Another Zoo Post
So, an update to our blog wouldn't be complete without pictures of a recent trip to Disneyland or the zoo, so for your viewing pleasure, of course we decided to add some pictures of our recent trip with Rachel, Natalie, and Sabrina.
It was a nice, sunny day Friday in February when Rachel called me up and asked if we wanted to go the zoo. The morning had gotten off to a shaky start when Kailey had insisted on wearing her hair like "Pippy". I had no idea what she was talking about and after much frustration on both our parts, I finally came to the conclusion that she was talking about Pippy Longstocking, something I thought she had never even heard of before. I'm still trying to figure out where she learned that, but her hair was done and I was ready to get out of the house and Kailey is always up for a good time with friends so of course the answer was yes, so we packed up a lunch, grabbed our zoo pass, and headed out.
It was a beautiful day, the perfect weather for an outing. Not too hot, and not too cold. The first half of the zoo was perfect as we meandered from animal to animal, spending quite a lot of time at the sea lions and seals, and the crazy antelope that was running around in circles. We ate lunch, checked out some ants, then went on to the other half. Unfortunately by this time, the zoo had been invaded by multiple school groups and it was chaos everywhere we went. We finally gave up on seeing any animals without fighting hordes of children, and decided to cut our day short. It was fun, but hopefully next time we go, we somehow luck out and avoid the school days.

Lesson Time
Kailey has a couple workbooks that we've really been focusing on lately. She especially loves to work on her math with her daddy when he comes home from work. One night I couldn't resist snapping some pictures and it soon turned into a mini photo shoot.

January Beach Days
So, its been unusually hot lately so one day Rachel and I decided to take the girls to the beach for lunch. It was great to get back to the beach! After fending off the hordes of hungry seagulls, the girls had a blast playing in the sand and not so fun after it got thrown in the the eyes. After fishing a surprisingly big rock out of Kailey's eye, the fun times returned. We were excited to see a whale offshore and even helped Matt make a video for work.

And Christmas goes on...
After having Christmas at our house, we packed up and went to Utah for a little vacation. There, Kailey got to open yet more presents, which she was extremely excited about as any kid would be. We had a blast visiting family, but its been good to be home.

Catch up time--Christmas!
So now that Kailey is back in school, I've got time to myself again. That means that I can actually update without distraction!
We had a great Christmas. On Christmas Eve we got some hot chocolate and went to the temple to look at the lights. Kailey had a blast looking at all the sparkly trees and running around despite the rain.
The next morning we woke up at the wonderful time of 8:00 and were shocked when we realized Kailey wasn't awake yet. We waited, and waited, and finally she decided to get up asking us if Santa came. We went downstairs to check of course and Kailey informed us that he didn't come, somehow completely missing the bike standing right in front of her. I think she was a little bit confused, but she finally understood and we had a hard time prying her off the bike to open other presents. Perhaps the highlight of the morning was when she opened up the present she'd been begging for for weeks--Wall-E. She was so excited, and to top it off, she even got some Wall-E and Eve figurines to play with too.
